About

Husband and wife team Andrew and Heidi believe that it is a privilege to be given the responsibility of looking after the funeral arrangements of someone’s loved one. We pride ourselves on offering a caring, personal and professional service. We hold traditional values with a modern approach.

Andrew Bingham Independent funeral service was established in 2006; Andrew has worked in the funeral profession since leaving school in 1986, carrying out all aspects of the profession working mainly in Ipswich for both a family business and one of the large national organisations. Living locally in Stowmarket and not having a local independent funeral directors in the town, Andrew and Heidi saw the need for an independent run family funeral service in the town to provide a more tailored personal service, as opposed to one offered by either of the large conglomerates already trading in Stowmarket but still trading under local names.

Andrew qualified as an embalmer in 1988 becoming a member of the British Institute of Embalmers and qualified as a funeral director in 1991. Andrew was proud to be chosen for the role as Chairman of the Essex and Suffolk area of the National Association of Funeral Directors from 2010 – 2012. Andrew originates from Yorkshire, his father being a Methodist Minister meant moving about and has also lived in Lancashire and Derbyshire before moving to Suffolk.
